Health Policies

In accordance with the school system's health policy, please do not sent your child to school if the following complaints are exhibited:

* cold symptoms: sore throat, runny nose or persistent cough. Any or all of these may be the early stage of a contagious disease. Bed rest may be a good idea for a day or two since he may be uncomfortable sitting in class all day. When returning to school, be sure your child is aware of the good health habits: cover coughs and sneezes, dispose tissues in trash, etc.

*temperature: if a child has a slight temp in the morning, it may become elevated during the course of the day. Don't send child back to school until the temp is normal for at least 24 to 48 hrs.

*headache: be sure your child doesn't have an elevated temperature if he complains of a headache- if so, keep him home.

*earache: with or without a rise in temperature, it may indicate an infection. Check with your doctor before sending you child to school.

*vomiting: wait at least 24 hour before sending your child to school. If your child vomited during the night or the evening before, don't sent him to school.

*rash: unless it is a known allergy, or eczema, consult you doctor before sending your child to school.

*eye infection: may be highly contagious; therefore, consult you doctor before sending the child to school.

If your child comes to school with any of the above symptoms or develops them in school, they will be sent home. If your child is to be absent from school, please call the school and leave a message stating the cause of the absence.
