Should you desire to have lunch with your child, please send a note to your child’s teacher at least three days prior to your planned visit. This will allow grade level teachers to insure space is available and to inform our food service staff of changes in lunch numbers. Due to space limitations and supervision liability issues, other care arrangements must be made for younger siblings.
Parents visiting the café to eat with their child can go to the front of the line.We encourage a healthy diet at Fawn Hollow. Soda and candy are discouraged at school. We encourage appropriate behavior from the children during lunch. We appreciate your assistance for role modeling this behavior for the children.
For the health and safety of the students as well as the supervision and management of the cafeteria "Fast Food" prepared outside the school may not be brought in for groups of children (i.e. pizza, Subway, etc.). There are a variety of food allergies (some very severe) affecting students in Fawn Hollow and it is not possible, nor is it appropriate, for the school staff to monitor food that is not from our cafeteria or from a student's lunch bag.

CHILDHOOD NUTRITION AND YOU
Childhood Nutrition is so important, and children learn by example. If you ever think your children aren’t paying attention to what you eat or how often you exercise, think again. Kids want to be like us. Set a good example with healthy eating habits and an active lifestyle. By incorporating lots of vegetables, fruits, and whole grains into their diets, parents can build a great foundation for good nutrition. Be creative. Allow children to pick their favorite fresh vegetable on sale that week at the grocery store and plan a meal around it. Then let them prepare dinner. Create meals using a wide variety of meats, fresh vegetables, whole grains, fruits, legumes, and low fat dairy products. Studies show that starting good nutrition at a young age can have many positive short and long term effects on a person’s health. Starting in spring, plan to decrease computer time and the amount of television your family watches each day and increase the time you spend getting involved in physical activity. By starting to lead an active lifestyle now, your children will learn to stay active for life. Encourage children to help you find a new healthy recipe to try. Then make preparing dinner a family affair. Enjoy this quality time spent together. Even if kids just stir or pour ingredients together, they will feel like they’re part of the process and be more likely to eat the finished product because they helped make it.
