Safety Procedures / Drills
At Fawn Hollow we routinely practice emergency drills to prepare and ensure the safety of the students in the building. Fire drills and evacuations are practiced periodically to ensure the safe evacuation of the building in case of such an emergency. Other emergency procedures and drills are practiced to ensure the safety of children and staff in the event of a local, community or national disaster. These drills include the safe supervision of the children while confined in the building. These procedures have been developed in conjunction with the Town Director of Emergency Management and the Monroe Police Department. During many of these drills and or actual incident it is likely that the school would be placed in a lockdown, which would prevent any movement in or out of the building. A lock down would only be implemented to maximize the safety of the students and staff during a difficult time.
COMMUNICATION: During a school lockdown we plan to communicate to our parents relative information on our district’s website
www.monroeps.org On the website there will be a link on the main screen entitled, Emergency Alert Information. In the event that the website is down, we will communicate information through FM Station WMNR, 88.1 FM.
THE SCHOOL DAY: Although we recognize that future world events could alter much of what we do during the school day, it is our goal to provide to the best of our ability, a normal school day for all of our students. We will be sensitive to the emotional changes that some of our students may experience and provide the necessary support. Our curriculum will remain intact, but will be flexible to appropriately address questions that our students may ask.
In summary, as adults we have seen many changes in the world. Our children are living in a time very different than that during our childhood. I hope that all of us working together will provide the opportunity for all our children to fulfill their life goals in a safe and secure environment.
