EARLY DISMISSAL PROCEDURES

Parents are responsible for monitoring the status of school dismissal times when inclement weather is possible. Dismissal may occur before inclement weather begins. Expect the telephone lines to be tied up so do not plan to call the school to give directions. If you plan to pick up your child, and this is not noted on the inclement form, please be at the school prior to dismissal to sign your child out so we will be able to account for each child. In keeping with our school policy, we will NOT take student pick-up instructions over the phone. You must be present to sign the student out prior to the dismissal.

AM kindergarten students will be dismissed to busses at a time deemed by the Superintendent. PM kindergarten classes will be cancelled. Children using Kindertime, in the AM or PM, will be dismissed at 1:30 p.m. with the student body (or at the closing time determined by the Superintendent.) Your instructions on the inclement form will be followed. Parents of kindergartners will receive a courtesy call to their home only to inform them of an early dismissal. Parents can pick their child up if they choose.

WHEN A DECISION IS MADE TO DISMISS SCHOOL EARLY, ALL NOTES WHICH WERE RECEIVED THAT MORNING REGARDING DISMISSAL BECOME VOID AND THE DIRECTIONS YOU HAVE INDICATED ON THE EARLY DISMISSAL FORM WILL GO INTO EFFECT. STUDENTS ON THE PERMANENT PICK UP DISMISSAL LIST WILL ALSO BE DIRECTED ACCORDING TO THE DIRECTIONS YOU HAVE INDICATED ON THIS FORM.

Remember that children are not allowed to go home on a different bus. NOTE: The YMCA After-School Program, in keeping with its policy agreement with parents, will not be in operation, if school is canceled or an early dismissal occurs.

Channel 17 also announces all school closings and early dismissals due to inclement weather. If you work out of town or do not have access to a radio or a phone while at work, it would be advisable for you to make arrangements to be notified of an early dismissal by a neighbor or friend.
