Welcome to
Jockey Hollow Library Media Center
Jan Birney, Library Media Specialist
The Library Media Center at Jockey Hollow School serves the information and literacy needs of our seventh and eighth grade students and our faculty and staff. We have a variety of books and magazines, and a large Reference collection. We also have many curriculum-related videos, DVDs, and audio books for teacher use. Our library collection also includes many popular fiction titles for the reading enjoyment of our patrons, including our monthly selection of award-winning and favorably reviewed current titles.
Circulation Policies
Loan Periods:
- All books in the regular collection may be checked out for two weeks and may be renewed .
- Reference books for special projects may be checked out overnight.
- Periodicals, magazines, and newspapers do not circulate.
Overdue Policies and Fines:
- After a two-day grace period, there is a $.10 fine for each day a book is returned late.
- Reference books carry a fine of $.80 per day, with no grace period.
- Students are responsible for paying the replacement cost for lost books or for books damaged beyond repair.
Hours
Because Mrs. Birney teaches three classes of eighth grade Information Literacy class each day, the library hours may be limited. We strive to provide access to all our patrons, however, and teachers may, by prior arrangement, bring their classes to the Library Media Center to work on projects or browse and check out books. During Periods 1, 3, 4, and 5 library use may be restricted to Information Literacy class students.
