7th Grade News from Cathryn Johnson
Welcome to Jockey Hollow and the second step in your child's middle school experience. The next two years will be an exciting and trying time for many of your children. I am looking forward to meeting each and everyone of them as soon as possible. My extension at school is 6117. Please feel free to call me at any time if you have any concerns that may arise during the course of the year. Good luck to you and your seventh grader!
8th Grade News from Kate Fox
Welcome to another adventurous year in your child’s life! While organization and homework patterns are indicators of success, social connections influence your child's development. Preparation for high school happens in the classroom as well as Pupil Services. Your child will be exposed to information regarding high school programs other than Masuk. Masuk planning happens in January. In the fall students learn about their eligibility for Trumbull Agriscience Program, Henry Abbott Tech and the Center for the Performing Arts. If you are planning on applying to an area private school, I will help you with the process. Not only will you need teacher recommendations, but you will need transcripts. Signing the reuired paperwork will expedite the entire application process. Know that I am available to advocate for your child; my extension is6114.
From the Student Assistance Team Counselor, Deobrah Gaynor
The SAT consists of the Administration, Pupil Services Department, our School Resource Officer, Nicole Buckley, and our school nurse, Lisa DeRosa. My role is to help students be successful by providing them with strong coping skills and the emotional support they sometimes require to be effective problem solvers. Parents are welcome to consult with me on various issues concerning their children. I also serve as a liaison for families and outside resources. Please feel free to contact me at extension 6113 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday if I can be of service to you or your family.
From the School Psychologist, Melissa Costanzo…
I feel very fortunate to be working along with you, as parents, to ensure success in all our children. I look forward to a year of opportunities to help your children grow academically, socially and emotionally. Many times I am asked for books or pamphlets on a variety of topics dealing with parenting and middle school concerns. I am proud to let you know that there is a Parent Resource Center located in Pupil Services. Feel free to avail yourself of this Center. Best wishes for a wonderful year ahead!
