Newberry Award Winning author, Gail Carson Levine visited with our fourth grade students Friday, October 6th, in the school library.  Ms. Levine is the beloved author of such works as Ella Enchanted, the very popular Princess series, and Dave at Night, among many other works.   She spoke about her writing experiences and her many books.  Ms. Levine also read from her newest title Fairest and spoke to students about their writing styles.

Ellen Pope, a Stepney alumna currently attending Jockey Hollow School and a huge fan, introduced Ms. Levine.

Kathryn Castillo, Kiki Dai and Nina Bartiomiejczyk read their short stories to the group, and Ms. Levine guided group discussions offering constructive criticism as well as praise to assist the students in their writing process.  Besides getting valuable writing feedback, the students learned how to receive and give constructive advice.

The event was made possible through the generosity and friendship of Linda and Dennis Devlin, of Linda’s Storytime and the Stepney School PTO.
