Preschool - Early Childhood Intervention Center

Overview:

The Monroe Public Schools is committed to providing a district-wide preschool program that embeds the Connecticut Preschool Curriculum Framework and the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards in order to address cognitive, language, social/personal and motor skills in the curriculum. Currently, the Preschool Program is housed at Monroe Elementary School.

Our goal is to provide a developmentally appropriate preschool environment with hands-on learning and exploration in a language based environment in order to prepare all children for the greatest opportunities for educational success.

There is substantial evidence suggesting that early childhood programs comprised of mixed ability groupings is best practice. Therefore, we are committed to a pre-K program model that includes typically developing preschool-age children from the community.

Our integrated program educates children of all learning capacities emphasizing the importance of inclusion and understanding.

Neighborhood Peer Selection/Waiting List

We have limited spaces for neighborhood peers based on the following criteria:

  • Three years of age or older
  • Participation in a screening to obtain a general development profile
  • Strong social and language skills

If you would like your child to be considered as a “neighborhood peer” for our program, you must first join our waiting list. You can do so here

Current tuition prices can be found here

Child Find/Special Education/Screening Request Form

We appreciate that young children develop at different rates. Child Find is a federal mandate that assures that all children who are in need or who are suspected to be in need of early intervention or special education services are located, identified, and referred to the Planning and Placement Team (PPT). If you have a concern about your child’s development, please complete this form.
