On May 12th, creativity and collaboration came to life as students from Mrs. Lardi’s first grade Monroe Elementary class and Ms. Moraniec’s high school ceramics students met for a special art exchange. Earlier this year, the first graders let their imaginations run wild as they designed original animals—some whimsical, some realistic, all full of personality. Those drawings were then handed over to the talented students in Masuk’s ceramics class, who took on the challenge of bringing each creation to life in clay.
Over the following weeks, the high school artists sculpted, glazed, and fired miniature ceramic animals based on the first graders’ designs. The result was a delightful collection of one-of-a-kind sculptures that captured the spirit and creativity of the young artists' original ideas.
The two groups met at Masuk, where the first graders were thrilled to receive their personalized animal sculptures and meet the high school students who created them. The event was filled with smiles, stories, and shared excitement—an inspiring example of cross-grade collaboration that brought art, imagination, and community together.
