Wages: The daily wage for substitute teachers and paraeducators has been established for the current school year at the rate of $115.00 per day for assignments exceeding 4 hours. Assignments less than 4 hours will receive half day pay. The hourly rate for substitute nurses has been established for the school year at the rate of $35.00 per hour.

A Bachelor’s degree is required usually* (see note below) required to be a substitute for the Monroe Public Schools. Teaching Certificate is not required. For substitute nurses, a Connecticut RN License is required. For substitute paraeducators, completion of the ParaPro exam with a passing score suffices. 

*Please note that if you do not have a Bachelor’s Degree, we can submit an ED174 on your behalf as long as you have experience working with school-aged children.

The district uses Frontline Absence Management (formerly AESOP)  as our substitute management tool. Once you have completed the hiring process, you will receive a username and password for Frontline.
